Airelles Gordes, La Bastide

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights for our honeymoon and honestly wish we stayed longer. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with friendly service, assisting with your vehicle, luggage and ensuring a smooth check in. We received an upgrade with complimentary gifts which was such an unexpected surprise. Our complimentary breakfast and Sunday brunch were standouts and the staff throughout our time there couldn’t be more genuine and helpful with our requests and questions. We decided to have a massage treatment and it was by far the best treatment I’ve ever had. The gym facilities were fantastic and the staff at the pool were lovely and friendly with the icecream stand a lovely touch. We dined at clover gordes on our final night and the food and wine were absolutely delicious. Upon departure we received a goodbye bag with fresh hand towels for the drive to our next destination, macaroons and personalised luggage tags (we were so appreciative of the thoughtfulness). The team always asked if we needed bottles of water for the journeys in our car throughout our time there. I know such a simple thing to do but these kinds of gestures were so appreciative and reflective of the staff going the extra mile to ensure you’re comfortable. We cannot wait to return and already planning our next overseas trip with this hotel and town definitely on the list of places to revisit and stay at.

La Bastide has become one of my top 3 favorite hotels of all time. This was my first visit, and it certainly won't be my last. I had no idea it was built into the hillside and that it was right in the middle of the village of Gordes. ARRIVAL. From the moment we drove up until the moment we were left to unpack in our room, the service and personal attention we received was impeccable and perfectly executed. ROOM. We stayed in the exquisite Baron de Simiane suite. Words can't do it justice. I've attached a few photos, but also check out the website. The in-person experience far exceeds any gorgeous photo taken. SERVICE. We received top-notch service everywhere: valet, front desk, concierge, maid service, restaurant staff, and the pool. Everyone was very polite and helpful, and there was never a wait. RESTAURANTS. We ate at both restaurants - Clover Gordes and L'Orangerie. The outdoor seating and the views were fantastic. I tried something new at Clover Gordes - the Zucchini Flower - which was quite tasty. In Provence, they certainly love their olive oil. Be prepared to try many kinds. Note: If you watched "Emily in Paris" on Netflix, the lunch scene in season 3, episode 6, was at the Clover Gordes. POOL. It was really hot the week we were there (103 degrees Fahrenheit). We spent one afternoon at the pool. It's a grassy setting with its own self-serve gelato stand. SPA. We didn't have time to experience the spa this time. Next time. WHAT I LIKED MOST. The location, the beauty, and the aroma throughout the hotel. I figured out that the scent was from the Airelles Holy Amber candles and diffusers. SUGGESTIONS. Plan to be there on a Tuesday so that you can experience the farmer's market in Gordes - right up the street from the hotel.

This was definitely the best hotel experience me and my fiancée ever had. From the moment we arrived until we left. This is an extraordinary location with great views, amazing food, and the staff was extremely nice, helpful, and fast. We have been to a few other hotels, including within the Airelles chain, which were really good too, but nothing comes to the level La Bastide reached. We will definitely come back in the future. Incredibly disappointed after my recent stay at the hotel, which failed to live up to its promises of a luxurious and comfortable experience during my honeymoon. Upon arrival, I was struck by the surprisingly small size of the room. The dimensions of the space were in no way reflective of what one might expect from a hotel of this caliber. The ceiling height was so low it made the room feel claustrophobic. Basic amenities were equally disappointing; the sink, for instance, was not functioning properly which created a significant inconvenience during my stay. The service presented itself as a mirage of sophistication and high standards, but the reality was far from it. The hotel's flexibility left much to be desired, especially when it came to accommodating reasonable requests. I was shocked by the attitude of the management - not only did they lack the basic cordiality one might expect from a hotel manager, but their conduct bordered on rudeness. Inflexibility and discourteous are the best words I can use to describe it. The ventilation in the property was another area of concern. The smell was persistently off-putting, revealing a significant issue that needs immediate attention. A hotel experience should be a sensory delight, not a sensory assault, and the odor here was a constant, unpleasant reminder of the hotel's failure to address this critical aspect. Regarding the staff, it was a mixed bag. While some members of the team were fantastic and helpful, others were uncomfortably awkward, creating an inconsistent experience that further underscored the lack of harmony in the hotel's operations. After my experience, I was more than eager to leave and I regretfully conclude that I will not be returning to this hotel. It's a shame to see such potential wasted by poor execution and a lack of attention to detail. It's clear that this hotel has a long way to go before it can truly live up to its promises of high-quality service and comfortable accommodation. I would advise potential guests to set their expectations accordingly.
